Gretchen's Team In Training PledgePage
I have had many experiences in the past few years that have proven to be very significant, and they have left me feeling fulfilled and excited about life. One of these experiences has been my involvement with TEAM IN TRAINING.
Several years ago, a close friend of mine was diagnosed with AML, an acute form of leukemia. Two or three days prior to her diagnosis, two fellow college students came to my apartment asking for donations for Team in Training. I donated but made sure to get the phone number of a contact person, just in case I decided to research the organization any further. ...Little did I know that I would run my first (and second) marathon through TNT within that year. Team in Training helps to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to promote research and programs for people affected by leukemia, lymphoma, and other blood-related disorders. (see "links" at left!) I train for a 26.2 mile marathon and raise $2500 for the Society, and people like YOU can donate money to help! I am running my third marathon (the Vermont City Marathon)for my Patient Partner, Carol Dembeck, in memory of my friend Polly, and for all of the kids at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (see "links"!). Carol was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1997 and is currently in REMISSION! Her experience, as well as those of others affected by these diseases, keeps me motivated to get out and RUN FOR A CURE! |
